Planned Parenthood is becoming obsolete in West Virginia (and across the country).
We met with Senator Joe Manchin’s staff on Monday to prove this point.
Here are a few arguments in favor of Planned Parenthood that we’ve heard:
1. You can be pro-life and still support Planned Parenthood
Interesting… Let me show you what the bigger picture actually looks like.
In West Virginia there is only ONE Planned Parenthood, as opposed to 317 Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs). FQHCs serve poor and uninsured women, as well as their families. They offer all the same services, minus abortion, plus metal care, dental care, and pediatric care. They exist in rural communities across the state.
This map from the Charlotte Lozier Institute puts it into perspective:
(You can find the map of your state here.)
2. Last year Senator Manchin said that he would vote to defund Planned Parenthood if the undercover CMP videos were found to be real. (Obviously they are).
But, why does that matter?
Even if those videos were never filmed, Planned Parenthood is still America’s largest abortion provider, performing somewhere between 1/3 to ¼ of the abortions nationally. Planned Parenthood is spending millions of dollars on pro-abortion marketing campaigns. Planned Parenthood is still the same organization that endorsed Hillary Clinton, the most radically pro-abortion candidate for president we have ever seen, with 38.8 million dollars in a losing election. Planned Parenthood is still the same organization that has been caught time after time cheating the Medicare system and stealing from tax-payers, leaving women wounded, and aiding sex criminals. If you are pro-life that’s what really counts.
Also, the videos have been found to be real. You can find the entire report of an analysis provided by a firm which specializes in verifying footage here.
3. The Planned Parenthood in West Virginia doesn’t do abortions, so it doesn’t matter.
That’s like saying, “the Mafia in does charity work and no murdering in WV, so we are going to leave them alone here and across America.”
Planned Parenthood is one of the biggest perpetrators of the largest human rights injustice the world has ever faced. Period.
More than 96% of women don’t go to Planned Parenthood for healthcare each year. Women are already going elsewhere! On top of that, their share of national abortions performed continually increases as their federal funding increases. These numbers are from their own annual reports!
What is our tax funding really going towards? It’s clearly being put to advance the pro-abortion movement.
A message to our leaders: Senator Manchin and other leaders, if you want to prove to your constituents that you care about healthcare in your states, vote to defund Planned Parenthood. Vote for better non-violent healthcare for women and their families.
