WASHINGTON D.C. (01-29-18) – Students for Life of America President Kristan Hawkins called on the U.S. Senate to pass the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, already through the U.S. House. Hawkins observed: “Only an inhumane society callously ends the lives of preborn infants after 5 months of pregnancy, an excruciatingly painful death for the infant and a dangerous, late-term abortion procedure for the mother. The U.S. House did the right thing in voting to stop that barbaric practice, and it’s up to the Senate to stand with the majority of Americans who know that there is something wrong with a culture that can save the live of one premature baby in an incubator while the life of another is cruelly ended in an abortion facility.
She continued: “The Pro-Life Generations sees this as a human rights issue. It’s appalling that the U.S. stands with so many human rights violators in allowing late term abortion, a common sense limit. Abortion is violence, and we are going to stand with preborn babies and their mothers, and ask our senators to do the same.”
Last fall, Students for Life of America traveled to the states of key Senators who will be held accountable for how preborn babies and their mothers are treated in the law before visiting more than 90 college campuses, educating, activating and mobilizing the Pro-Life Generation about the issues at stake right today, like the need to defund Planned Parenthood and put scarce tax dollars into life saving care, and the need to limit abortion after 5 months of pregnancy, when babies become viable outside the womb.
Hawkins said, “Our message to all officeholders is clear: If you don’t cast your vote to protect life and defund the abortion industry, we won’t cast our votes for you and we will welcome your primary challengers into the race. For years, pro-life students have been told that their ideals could never be realized without control of the White House, Senate and House. With those three in the hands of the GOP, there should be no excuse for failing to deliver on the promises made in the platform. There is no better time than today to protect the preborn.”

We will be posting a reaction on social media after the vote tonight.
