Congratulations to Kate Mohr, Jen Rumpf and other leaders at Texas A&M HSC School of Medicine who organized a successful MEDSFL event (132 students!) with Dr. Byron Calhoun, a board certified physician in general Obstetrics/Gynecology with a sub-specialty of Maternal-Fetal Medicine, and Professor at West Virginia University-Charleston. He spoke on Terminal Illness in the Womb on March 2, 2015.
Dr. Calhoun is a co-author of an interesting new study published in the BMJ (Feb. 2015) testing whether there is lower maternal mortality in Mexican states with less permissive abortion laws.
Congratulations also to Alainna and the student team at Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences- COM in Yakima, WA who hosted Dr. William Toffler, Professor of Family Medicine at Oregon Health Science University. His March 5 talk about The Right to Die? attracted a great turnout with 72 students/faculty and staff attending. The students even cooked a delicious homemade pasta lunch for the attendees. Good way to drive up attendance!
