On January 22, 1973, the Supreme Court Decision, Roe v. Wade, was handing down and sealed the fate of millions of children. Abortion takes the lives of over three thousand children every day. That is almost 3 every second resulting in over one million children killed per year. Most of these children will never have a proper funeral or memorial service because they were believed to be a “choice” rather than a unique and distinguished human being.
We are asking you to be the ones who honor their short lives and share with your peers the staggering numbers of those affected by abortion by creating a display that draws attention to the number of women and child hurt by abortion every day.
What’s in the Box:
- One sheet of heart templates
- Abortion Statistics Fact Sheet
- 25 SFLA Human Development Topic Cards
How to use the box:
Members of Lakers for Life in Prior Lake, Minnesota created a variation of a Cemetery of the Innocents that was incredibly effective. This box has been created to share the event with you!
Take the template of hearts and make 50 of copies so that you have a total of 300 hearts. You can use different colored paper so that your hearts are varied. Cut out each heart (either by hand or using a die-cut) and tape them to a large sheet of paper. Do not write any information on the paper regarding abortion or your club.
Tape the poster with the hearts in a high traffic area on campus or in a hallway. If your school requires that your club name be on all group displays, display it discreetly at the top or bottom. Leave the poster there for 2 days.
Take hearts off the poster and put the now blank poster back up where you had it before, but keep the hearts in nice shape for later use.
Give paper hearts and safety pins to pro-life group members to wear on Thursday. Members will pin the hearts to their shirts where they are visible. Each member wearing a heart should memorize basic abortion statistics so as to answer any question of fellow students.
- More than 3,000 children are killed by abortion every day
- 1/4 of our generation is missing because of abortion
- 56 million babies have died from abortion since 1973
Tape the “Why are the hearts gone…” Poster on top of the outer poster (where the hearts used to be) and direct people to ask those with a heart pinned to their shirts why they have been removed. Members should wear hearts all day Thursday. This is a great opportunity to share the truth about abortion and engage in civil, respectful, conversation about abortion.
Replace the poster with the statistics that each heart represented 10 children killed by abortion and lea
ve for as long as permitted.
After your awareness campaign is over, let SFLA know how it went! We love to hear how students are impacting their high schools. Did members of your group have effective conversations? Did your group change the minds of other students regarding abortion? Tell us at email@example.com
