Below is a statement from Kristan Hawkins on the recent GOP statements calling for a “truce” on social issues. Governor Daniels, Governor Barbour, and Congressman Paul Ryan have all recently made similar comments on this issue.
“The GOP leadership should know better than to even suggest calling a truce on social issues. America is a pro-life nation and while social conservatives are as concerned as the rest of the nation about fiscal issues, to lose focus of the core issue of the basic right to life would be a glaring oversight of the main tenets of the Republican Party. As recent primaries have made clear, Americans want conservative values and I ask all leaders who have stood up for life in the past to continue to do so this election season and in the future.”
